Directors  are elected to four-year terms by the registered voters within the boundries of Hidden Valley Lake. Terms are staggered to ensure continuity, with public elections held every two years. Directors must reside within the District boundries of Hidden Valley Lake, Ca. and must coordinate elections with the Lake County Registrar of Voters at  https://www.lakecountyca.gov/818/Registrar-of-Voters.

Directors receive compensation as established by Ordinance No. 61. 

While serving on the Board of Directors, members are provided health, dental, and vision coverage for themselves and one dependent.

Vacancy notices are published in the local newspaper and public bulletin boards.
